Shoulder Surgery Options go back to the surgery options menu Pain and stiffness in the shoulder may necessitate a shoulder replacement. The ball end of the shoulder (humeral head) is replaced with a metal ball. The socket (glenoid) may or may not be resurfaced with polyethylene (plastic). Most shoulder replacement patients stay in the hospital for only one to two days. Therapy usually continues for three months or more after discharge.Patient Education information provided by Biomet, Inc. - Advanced Science for Real Living™ |
