Oct-31-2011 Game Plan Newsletter Vol. 4 No. 2 Biomet Sport Medicine is excited to release the fourteenth edition of the Game Plan, Strategies to Help Surgeons Get Patients Back in the Game. This issue focuses on the Fall Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) meeting in Palm Desert, California, November 17-19, 2011. In addition, we have introduced the award winning family of JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchors.

Biomet Sports Medicine has been proud to partner with surgeons Stephen M. Howell, M.D. and Gregory C. Fanelli, M.D., two of the leading experts in knee soft tissue repair and reconstruction, for the past two decades. Dr. Howell will be presenting on his research and development of an anatomic transtibial approach utilizing the Howell™ 65 Degree Tibial Guide. Dr. Fanelli will be discussing his pearls and research on multiligament knee reconstruction and repair. This will take place Friday, November 18, 2011, at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa. Please view the newsletter to learn more details regarding this meeting.

We are excited to announce the launch of the JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchor family. This award winning anchor began with a 1.4mm diameter, 100% suture based anchor system and has quickly grown into a family of anchors that offer sizing options for over 25 different procedures.

This newsletter also highlights the abbreviated technique by Jeffrey L. Nacht, M.D., utilizing the JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchor-14mm Short for Achilles Tendon Repair (with associated Haglund’s excision). This abbreviated technique highlights the surgical steps to remove the bony prominence and repair the Achilles.

You can read about all of these and more in this issue of the Game Plan.
Jun-8-2011 Game Plan Newsletter Vol.3 No.4 Biomet Sports Medicine is excited to release the twelfth edition of the Game Plan, Strategies to Help Surgeons Get Patients Back in the Game. This issue acknowledges the award winning JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchor and announces the launch of DermaSpan™ Acellular Dermal Matrix. Also included in the newsletter is information regarding a recent clinical study of the Howell™ ACL System.

Biomet Sports Medicine has received the 2011 Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA) for innovative design of the JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchor. This suture anchor device allows surgeons to reattach soft tissue to the bone. The JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchor incorporates an all-suture design with small size and high strength. The MDEA competition is the only award system that honors the advances of medical products. The MDEA winners will be honored in New York City on Wednesday June 8, 2011.

Jeffrey Gittins, M.D. addresses the benefits of the JuggerKnot™ Soft Anchor when used for lateral ankle repairs. This anchor provides a strong fixation to the bone. The soft anchor does not remove bone; instead this suture compresses the bone within the pilot. The placement of the anchors uses very little time.

The inside spread of the newsletter announces Biomet Sports Medicine’s launch of the DermaSpan™ Acellular Dermal Matrix. This product is derived from allograft human skin and is highly optimal for use in tendon coverage or reinforcement and wound procedures. DermaSpan™ Acellular Dermal Matrix is unique in various ways, such as this product is supplied sterile with a Sterility Assurance Level of 10-6 and no refrigeration is required.

Along with the launch of DermaSpan™ Acellular Dermal Matrix, the inside spread of the newsletter includes information regarding the three independent tissue banks that Biomet Sports Medicine works with to provide allograft tissue.

The final page of the newsletter includes information on a recent clinical study of the Howell™ ACL System. This system includes three products utilized in ACL reconstruction, the WasherLoc™ Tibial Fixation Device, the EZLoc™ Femoral Fixation Device, and the Howell™ 65° Tibial Guide. The rehabilitation process, tunnel technique, fixation methods, and graft choice used during ACL reconstruction are all addressed within the article.

You can read about all of these and more in this issue of the Game Plan.

Feb-9-2011 Game Plan Newsletter Vol.3 No.3 Biomet Sport Medicine is excited to release the eleventh edition of the Game Plan, Strategies to Help Surgeons Get Patients Back in the Game. It provides liquid irrigation and aspiration for endoscopic procedures in one unit through two individual roller pumps.
