Understanding Non-invasive Stimulation
Types of Non-invasive Stimulation

Capacitive Coupling Stimulation (CC)

Capacitive Coupling stimulation technology involves the use of two electrodes applied to the skin at the site of fracture nonunion. Alternating current from the electrodes promotes healing by inducing a weak electrical current at the fracture nonunion. Patients do not feel the low level current.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Stimulation (PEMF)

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Stimulation (PEMF) uses external anatomically configured therapeutic treatment coils placed directly over the skin at the fracture nonunion site that emit an electromagnetic field. The electromagnetic field induces pulsing electrical currents at the fracture nonunion site, which promotes healing. Patients do not feel the electromagnetic waves. These coils may be worn over casts and clothes or directly on the fracture nonunion site.
