Patients and Caregivers - Joint Replacement

Elbow Pain
ExploR® Modular Radial Head

The ExploR® Modular Radial Head was developed in conjunction with Donald H. Lee, M.D., and Christopher Martin, M.D. The implant is designed to restore the joint between the humerus (upper arm bone) and the radius (arm bone on the thumb side of the hand).

Replacement of the radial head is typically required after a severe elbow fracture. Other treatment options range from fixation plates (internal or external) to more conservative, non-surgical repair.

The ExploR® Modular Radial Head is a modular system that allows surgeons to correctly match the size of the implant to a patient's unique anatomy. In addition, this design allows the surgeon to leave ligament structures intact, thereby allowing for a quicker recovery from surgery. This means that there could be a greater chance that the implant will successfully eliminate, or reduce, the pain and limited movement of the elbow.
