Biomet now offers the Taperloc® and Balance® Microplasty™ Hip Stems to address the growing demand for minimally invasive options in total hip arthroplasty. These stems are conducive to multiple minimally invasive techniques, including ASI, and provide surgeons with an alternative to femoral resurfacing.

Taperloc® Microplasty™ Stem
The next dimension in tapered wedge design

The Taperloc® Microplasty™ stem builds on the strong clinical heritage of the proven Taperloc® Hip System and incorporates new design features to better address minimally invasive techniques and provide an alternative to femoral resurfacing. Features of the Taperloc® Microplasty™ stem include:
  • Bone conserving design, reduced 35mm distally
  • Flat tapered wedge geometry for rotational stability, enhanced proximal offloading and bone preservation
  • Offset options for enhanced stability without lengthening the leg
  • Collarless design for self seating of implant and optimal rotational fixation
  • Seven neck length options
Balance® Microplasty™ Stem
Anatomic fit and fill, bone and tissue conserving design

The Balance® Microplasty™ stem builds on the foundation of the Balance® Hip stem to incorporate an anatomic fit and fill geometry with a bone conserving, tissue sparing design to address the growing need for minimally invasive options. The Balance® Microplasty™ stem features:
  • Standard 80mm length for all sizes
  • Anatomical neck design with five degrees of anteversion
  • Six degree anterior build-up for potential immediate weight bearing
