Fanning J, Murrain L, Flora R, Hutchings T, Johnson JM, Fenton BW. Phase I/II prospective trail of autologous platelet tissue graft in gynecologic surgery. J Minim Invasive Gynecol 2007;14:633-7
Summary: Autologous platelet tissue graft (APTG) made from platelet-rich plasma was used in 55 patients undergoing major gynecologic surgery. These patients were compared to a matched group of 55 patients from the previous six months that hadn't received APTD application. APTD use resulted in decreased pain on the day of surgery and on postoperative day 1. Less pain medication was used in the APTD group. There were not adverse effects associated with APTD use.
Quotation: "In the original phase I/II prospective trial of autologous platelet tissue graft in gynecology surgery, there were no apparent adverse effects, and pain was significantly reduced."
