Mandel MA. Closure of blepharoplasty incisions with autologous fibrin glue. Arch Opthalmol 1990;108(6):842-4.
Summary: Autologous fibrin sealant was used instead of sutures to close blepharoplasty incisions. Very few complications were seen, and cysts, granulomas, and milia, which are associated with suture closure, did not occur after a 1-year follow up.
Quotation: “The fibrin glue and minimal suture technique is an alternative to eyelid incision closure and may be useful in many other types of operative procedures.”
Mandel MA. Minimal suture blepharoplasty: closure of incisions with autologous fibrin glue. Aesthetic Plast Surg 1992;16(3):269-72.
Summary: Thirty-two patients underwent blepharoplasty procedures with incision closure by autologous fibrin glue. Incision closure by this method was successful with few complications.
Quotation: “Use of autologous fibrin glue with a minimal number of sutures can be used as an alternative method to close wounds.”
“The positive results in this blepharoplasty investigation suggest that fibrin glue may be useful in many aesthetic and reconstructive procedures. It has sufficient adhesive qualities to maintain wound closure and the complications associated with its use are few.”
